A Second Visit to The Alchemist: A Fine Dining Experience Beyond Expectations

The Alchemist Copenhagen
Eight Layers Of Life

When I first dined at The Alchemist Copenhagen in 2020, it was an out-of-this-world experience. So, returning for a second visit was both exciting and nerve-wracking—would it live up to my expectations? Would it feel the same? This time, I wasn’t alone; I was sharing this moment with my husband and in-laws, whom I had been raving about this place to for years.

A Five-Month Wait for the Ultimate Dining Experience

After waiting five long months for our booking, the day had finally arrived. We stepped into the entrance of The Alchemist, and instead of the New York-inspired room with an edible ticket (which I remembered from my first visit), we were led into a dimly lit, minimalist grey space with three large screens in the center.

The screens came to life, showcasing the evolution of humanity—from pre-historic times to today’s social media age. At first, we watched casually, until something caught my eye…

"Wait—why does that girl look like me?""Hold on… my in-laws are in this video too?"

Suddenly, we realized—the restaurant had taken our pictures at the reception and digitally inserted them into the film. I became the first woman to use the telegram, the girl who landed on the moon, while my in-laws stood by the Berlin Wall. Even more surreal, I was the face of Jacob Chansley (Yes, the ‘Capitol Guy in Animal Fur’).

Mind. Blown. 🤯

First Impressions & Signature Dishes

A door slid open, leading us into the lounge area, where we enjoyed our first drinks and appetizers. I had been waiting for this moment—revisiting two unforgettable dishes from my last visit:

  • The Perfect Omelet

  • The Perfect Croquetas (real name on the menu: Sunburnt Bikini)

And wow, they did not disappoint—exactly how I remembered them! (I’m literally salivating as I write this.)

After indulging in our first bites, we made our way through The Alchemist’s iconic 90,000-bottle wine room (!!) and into the main dining dome. As we entered, I turned to see my in-laws’ faces, eager to catch their reactions. The dome’s ceiling projections had evolved since 2020—the visuals now moved with the music, creating a dynamic, immersive environment. It felt like we had stepped inside The Las Vegas Sphere, only more intimate and exclusive.

The Dining Experience: 30 Unforgettable Courses

Seated at the chef’s bar, we embarked on an entirely new gastronomic journey. Unlike other fine dining restaurants, where you often encounter at least a couple of dishes that aren’t your style, every single one of The Alchemist’s 30 courses was a culinary masterpiece. I found myself wanting seconds of everything.

Beyond the flavours, what stood out was the impeccable service—friendly, professional, and almost psychic. It felt like they were discreetly observing us, anticipating every need, ensuring a seamless, flawless experience from start to finish.

A Journey Through Multiple Rooms & Surprises

Without spoiling the entire experience (because let’s be real, you need to go and experience it yourself), we explored three more rooms after the main dining area, each filled with unforgettable moments and surprises. By the time we reached the final room, our coats were already waiting for us.

Remember what I said about a seamless and flawless experience? They thought of everything.

Chef Rasmus Munk & The Alchemist’s Global Recognition

Earlier this year, Chef Rasmus Munk received The Best Chef Award, and The Alchemist was named the #1 restaurant in the AOD rankings. However, it only ranked 8th on the 50 Best list—something I seriously don’t understand.

After this visit, I can say with 100% confidence that The Alchemist will claim the #1 spot next year.

Mark my words.

Final Thoughts: Is The Alchemist Worth It?

Unforgettable storytelling through food

Impeccable service & seamless experience

A multi-sensory, immersive dining journey

30 flawless dishes (yes, every single one)

A bucket-list experience for any food lover

Was it worth the 5-month wait? Without a doubt.

Would I go again? Already planning my third visit.
